Rory didn't do what he did out of anger, or to paint you as the bad guy or because he thought you aren't hurting. All that was on his mind was how he'd feel if he said nothing, and the two of you won.
Maybe that's insufficient reason. But there was no malicious or hurtful intent behind it.
