(no subject)

I went into work today planning to tell Mike that I was taking time off to go see Nana.

I ended up telling him that I quit.

I really meant is this a good thing or a bad thing? It's a big thing, obviously, but... is it what you want?

I'm sorry. I don't mean to be so snappish.

It's...a thing, good or bad doesn't really matter now. It's done. I really don't know what I want.

I'm not taking it personally, don't worry about it.

It looks like you'll have plenty of time to figure that out. If you decided you wanted to go back, I'm sure your former boss would work something out. It's done, sure. But it can be undone, too.

I don't think I'll ever want to work there again but that really has nothing to do with Mike. He's wonderful and I owe him a lot. Things...a lot of things, have changed and it's just not where I want to be any more.

You know what you don't want, then. It's the first step in figuring out what you do want, so at least you're moving in the right direction. So what's next? I mean, where do you go from here?

[identity profile] sand-andwater.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
I don't want a lot of things. I'm working on it, but...I know I'm being terribly cryptic about things it's only that I'm still in the middle of figuring out the hows and whys of what I think I should probably do.

In the immediate future I'm going to visit my grandmother in Massachusetts and possibly see another friend in Boston before I come back. I need someone I can bounce a few things off of and he's nothing if not brutally honest.

I don't need to know anything more than you want to tell me. As long as you're figuring it out, that's the important thing.

You do whatever you have to do. Boston is a great city. I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed Harvard.

I enjoy Boston on the rare occasion I am there, the shopping and dining are wonderful. I mostly stay on The Vineyard when I'm in Mass though.

I'm quite sure it doesn't come as a surprise when I say a lot of it has to do with what happened in August.

I've only been to The Vineyard a handful of times, but it's nice, too. I think I just prefer the energy of the city.

It doesn't come as a surprise, no. Everyone deals with things differently.

Nana refuses to leave any more, she stays year-round. I used to just summer there as a child.

Must've been great. And yeah, *chuckles* I think there's a correlation between age and stubbornness.

Being an inconvenience to others seems to be her biggest joy in life.

*smirks* Sounds charming.

She's adorable.
