New Year's Resolution: No Drunk Posting on the Internet

It's almost January 2nd for me and I am only now feeling alive enough to venture out of bed for any length of time. I have not been that hungover in oh--ever. Wine, red wine, is evil. Vile. Tasty and good and it tricks you. I could have sworn my head was going to fall off this morning.

Thankfully, it has not and the headache is mostly gone and the nausea is completely gone. Don't get me wrong, I obviously enjoyed the party last night (maybe a little too much considering how I felt today) but there is no way I would have had a good time sober. Of course, getting completely plowed wasn't really the best idea either...

Kindly disregard some of my inane babbling from yesterday. While there is a lot of 2008 that I do not care to ever revisit, and I won't really discuss it here because it's not suitable subject matter for my blog, there is a great deal of 2008 that was wonderful and I don't ever wish to forget.

Mr. Beaker--and I miss him, but I know Mike's taking care of my puppy for me. I never thought of myself as a pet owner and didn't plan to adopt a Doberman puppy but I'm glad I did. He's the sweetest thing ever, endlessly cute and I miss the way he liked to sleep with his head on my hip when he'd flop down in my bed at night.

Breaker Street--it isn't my good thing here, but I am entirely proud of the band and everything they achieved last year. It makes me happy to know that they are well on their way to getting the success that they've wanted and worked for. And some day I can actually say "I knew them when..." I do miss them, the bi-weekly gigs at Last Call and more than that, the informal get togethers we used to have. Kreske, I'll email you later.

Rory Stone--Ro is, was, and always will be the best thing that ever happened to me. I don't know what else to say about that.

Being back in Venice--I hate what brought me here, but I am so very glad to be 'home'

Canned Cheeseburgers--I'm really not going to explain this one.

Now, I think I am going to sneak downstairs quietly and see about raiding the refrigerator. Minestrone is calling my name and I don't want to disappoint it.

HAPPY @))(

2009...Ooops. Shift key.

Anyway...it's now waaaaaaaaaaaay past midnight for me and my paesani, amici...um Italiano friends and neighbors. I'm going to bed as soon as I can figure out how to get my dress off. Back zipper...I hope Alessandro isn't asleep yet, he can get this thing undone. My feet hurt. Don't ever try to dance up a flight of stairs.

Mmm...oh, pictures!

Me and Marcello. Isn't he cute for an annoying photographer? Someone stole his camera and took this one of us:

He looks like his English mother which is unfortunate around here because all the guys are dark haired and well...oh never mind. Pretty people everywhere.

Me! Me before saying good night and coming up here to wish everyone a happy new year.

No more 2008. I couldn't handle any more 2008. It was an awful AWFUL year. Bye bye 2008. Arrivederci. Ciao, 2008. Take all your horrible memories with you. Pippa is ready for a good year and happy things now.

Dolce Sogni! Sogni d'ora e Felice Nuova Ano!

I didn't really intend to celebrate tonight but Marcello was very insistent and Alessandro wouldn't let me stay in my room. I'm some hours ahead of all of my US-based friends so I'm sure you are all still finalizing plans and trying to decide what to wear. As for me, we've been passing around the wine, eating far too much food and Marcello has been taking many, many pictures. I've taken his camera away to clear some of them off.

I told Paola, one of my neighbors here, that there are so many people at this party, it almost feels like trying to navigate the streets of Manhattan. Of course, everyone is nicer, happier, and instead of giving you the finger if you bump into them they give you a hug and kiss.

Maybe it's all the wine talking, but I'm actually having a good time tonight.

A few of the pictures under here: )
